Which programs
We are currently in the affiliate programs of the following companies, and only these. Where an article links to one of them, the link may be an affiliate link:
- SE Ranking — SEO tooling
- ElevenLabs — voice synthesis
- InVideo — video creation
Every other product, service or provider mentioned anywhere on this site is mentioned because it is relevant to the topic. We earn nothing from those. Hetzner is a common example: it appears in many articles because it is genuinely a good option, and it has no affiliate programme at all. DigitalOcean is another: we were previously in its programme, we are not now, and the DigitalOcean links still present in older articles earn us nothing.
How we decide what to recommend
A product is named in an article because it fits the technical problem the article is about. The commercial relationship comes after that decision, never before it. We do not add a provider to an article because it pays, and we do not remove a better free or self-hosted option because it does not.
Concretely: the majority of the guides here are about self-hosting software on infrastructure you control, which is frequently the cheaper answer and earns us nothing.
How it is marked
Affiliate links carry rel="nofollow sponsored", so search engines are told what they are, and articles containing one carry a visible disclosure near the link itself — not only here.
Why we do it this way
This site costs money to run and currently earns very little. Affiliate commission is how we would like to cover that, but a recommendation you cannot trust is worth nothing to either of us. If you ever find a recommendation here that only makes sense commercially, tell us: [email protected].
